Scanning Barcodes
Barcode scanning is the fastest way to add items to your StashGuard inventory. Here’s how to get the most out of this feature.
Supported Barcode Types
StashGuard supports all common barcode formats:
- UPC-A / UPC-E: Standard retail products (US/Canada)
- EAN-13 / EAN-8: Standard retail products (International)
- QR Codes: Custom product information
- Code 128: Industrial and logistics barcodes
- Code 39: Older industrial standard
Scanning Tips
Good Lighting
For best results, make sure the barcode is well-lit. Avoid:
- Direct glare from overhead lights
- Deep shadows
- Very dim environments
Hold Steady
Keep your phone steady and parallel to the barcode. The camera needs a clear, focused image to read the code.
Distance
Hold your phone about 4-8 inches (10-20 cm) from the barcode. Adjust if the code is very small or very large.
Unrecognized Barcodes
If a barcode isn’t in our database, you’ll see a prompt to add the product details:
